No one needs reminding of just how difficult the past 18 months has been for the travel industry. However, we are beginning to see positive signs with bookings confirmed for the remainder of 2021 and advance bookings in place for 2022.

You may have heard that 2.9 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in the first eight months of 2021, with 43pc of those doing so in August.  That’s not surprising given the lifting of non-essential travel was as recent as 19 July. That lifting of travel restrictions and an accelerated vaccination programme is giving the Irish travelling public a much-needed confidence boost.  And for those of us within the travel industry we need to continue to build on that.

 

Travel Trends 2022

The pandemic has also seen some new travel trends emerge. With so many feeling deprived of travel, some are ready to spend big on a once-in-a-lifetime luxury holiday, while others are planning a multigeneration family holiday around a villa pool.
